The Chaffey Joint Union High School District is proud to introduce you to the premier, free, public online learning opportunity in the Inland Empire.  As the 9th school in the district, the Chaffey District Online High School brings an innovative learning opportunity allowing student learning to reach across several dimensions. Understanding not all students learn in the same fashion, CDOHS will offer learning opportunities tailored to the individual needs of the independent learner.

Knowing the benefit of online learning, and its various models, is the drive of our staff to adhere to the goals of the district:  Increase Student Achievement and Improve Instruction; utilizing innovative methods.  The online learning opportunities of CDOHS are aligned to the requirements of the UC/CSU bound student as well as those desiring to graduate from high school with a traditional diploma from the Chaffey Joint Union High School District.  We also address the needs of credit recovery as well as grade remediation for some course work.

Chaffey District Online High School is proud to be offering a free, public education to the students in San Bernardino, Inyo, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside counties.  We look forward to partnering with you to ensure our school is the best it can possibly be.  With online learning becoming a popular option of innovative learning we look forward to serving such needs.

Parent Information Meeting

Dear Alternative Education Center Students & Families,

Welcome back for the 2018-2019 school year. I hope you had a fantastic summer and are as excited as I am to kick off another amazing year. Words cannot adequately express how honored and humbled I am to be the Principal of the Alternative Education Center. The AEC is comprised of Valley View High School, Chaffey District Online High School, Chaffey Community Day School, and programs including CSOP, GED Renew, ASP, and Home Teach. I am fortunate to have spent the last five years in alternative education learning from AEC students, parents and guardians, the community, and faculty and staff. I look forward to serving you as we work toward achieving our goal for all students to graduate ready for college and career!

We have high expectations for our AEC students as they navigate a computer-based instructional model with the support of their teachers. This blended learning approach affords students every opportunity not only meet graduation requirement, but also prepare for what lies beyond their high school years. Students have access to their coursework 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with an internet connection—so with hard work, determination, and motivation, every student can achieve success.

AEC Parents & Guardians—you play an important role in the success of your student. We offer many ways for you to monitor the progress of your student so you can provide that consistent feedback and motivation they need to stay focused. School Loop is an amazing tool available for VVHS & CDS parents to monitor attendance along with grades and credits at the end of each credit check, and for CDOHS families to monitor quarter grades and course completion. It is also a fabulous avenue to communicate with teachers. Edgenuity & APEX progress reports will provide you with academic progress so you can view the quality and quantity of work your student is mastering on a daily basis. Together, School Loop and Edgenuity & APEX tools are a great resource for you to ensure your student is continually making progress.

It is vital that we all work together to make a high school diploma a reality for our students. We invite all parents and guardians to join us for a variety of parent meetings and groups throughout the year! We truly cherish the relationships we are able to build with our AEC families.

The 2018-2019 school year will kick off on Wednesday, August 8th. In the days leading up to the first day of school, you will receive our summer mailer which will include a calendar of events, student information, emergency packets, lunch applications, and other various enrollment paperwork students will need to return on designated schedule pick-up and enrollment days the week before school starts. If you have any questions regarding the summer mailer, please call the front office at (909) 985-0966 (VVHS-6th Street Campus) or (909) 460-5626 (7th Street Campus).

I’m looking forward to an amazing school year filled with promise, hope, and making our students’ dreams come true.

Operation Clean Sweep

Chaffey District Online High School is proud to introduce a partnership with the Ontario Police Department through Operation Clean Sweep.  The philosophy behind Clean Sweep is to work together to reduce juvenile offenses on school campuses, to foster a spirit of cooperation between the police and schools, and to increase campus safety.  Administration and Campus Safety Officers are trained to recognize specific juvenile infractions and utilize the Juvenile Citation Program.   Students will face a judge who may impose a fine, community service, and/or counseling classes.  These penalties are in addition to whatever disciplinary consequences are imposed by the Online High School administration. Behaviors that can result in a citation are:

  1. Truancy
  2. Possession or use of tobacco (or products)
  3. Littering
  4. Fighting or disturbing the peace
  5. Keeping property
  6. Petty Theft
  7. Minor in possession of aerosol paint can
  8. Affixing graffiti
  9. Under the influence of alcohol or marijuana
  10. Possession of alcohol
  11. Possession of marijuana

Operation Clean Sweep is a multifaceted program that seeks to enhance the security of all students in school while, at the same time, establishing responsibility, discipline, and accountability in respect to student’s actions.
